Prague’s wine bar scene has quietly transformed from buttoned-up and old-school to effortlessly cool. In place of white tablecloths and rigid rituals, you’ll now find candlelit cellars, courtyard lounges, and sommeliers pouring organic blends with stories behind every bottle.

To help you sip your way through the best, we asked Červený Jelen sommelier Petr Šrejma for his top spots to drink great wine in great company.

Červený Jelen

With Šrejma at the helm, Červený Jelen is building one of the sharpest wine lists in town. Among the selection are top-caliber blends from France and Italy as well as solid local picks like Sedlák’s Cuvee Renomé. Two terraces, live summer music, and food that holds its own—Wagyu steaks, confit duck, grilled over beechwood—make Jelen more than a pit stop.

Bokovka

Hidden in a charming Old World courtyard along Dlouhá Street, this stylish spot focuses its rotating wine selection on small, independent producers from across Europe. What started as a wine club among friends is now a go-to for serious sippers and cheese lovers. Expect bottles from Moravia, Bohemia, France, Italy, Austria, and beyond—plus sardines and cheese cut to order from their in-house fromagerie. Grab a glass and settle into the courtyard or the rustic, candlelit cellar for a night out with friends.

Veltlin

Veltlin keeps things simple: no wine list, no pretense, just bottles opened daily, and a wait staff trained to pour the perfect glass based on your mood. This popular Karlín spot is all about natural wines from the former Habsburg Empire, with close personal ties to the small producers behind each bottle. The wine here is paired with cheeses, cured meats, pâtés, and pumpkin seeds from local farms and producers.

0.75 [Sedmička]

This Holešovice favorite is known for its keen focus on natural wines, with a curated selection that rotates regularly and highlights small European producers. Choose from one of the bottles lining the walls, or let the sommelier guide you to something unexpected by the glass. The interior blends clean minimalism with quirky historic touches—and yes, it’s very “instafriendly.” There are no hot meals, but you can snack on premium cheeses, smoked meats, and fresh bread.

Advivum Wine Bar

Wine connoisseurs will want to browse Advivum’s vast collection, which ranges from everyday bottles to rare, aged vintages from top European regions. There is plenty available by the glass. Located in Slovanský dům, the spot combines modern minimalism with a flexible glass-walled lounge and a quiet courtyard garden where you can relax and enjoy your selection. The tapas menu includes French cheeses, Italian cured meats, truffle mozzarella, and foie gras pâté.

Vinograph

Vinograf isn’t just another of the center’s stylish wine bars—it’s where more than 700 bottles line the walls, and the sommeliers delight in chatting up the clientele. Almost everything at the boutique chain’s Senovážné náměstí flagship is poured by the glass, so you can easily jump from a crisp Moravian white to a rich Spanish red without committing to a full bottle. Complement your wine selection with the kitchen’s duck ravioli, porcini risotto, or a tantalizing cheese board.

Grand Cru

While Grand Cru’s international fare has made it a standout on the Prague dining scene – even scoring a nod from Michelin—the restaurant’s extensive wine selection is a worthy splurge in its own right. The list includes more than 1,500 bottles from around the world, and the bar staff knows how to steer you toward something interesting. The sophisticated space is inviting, with a winter garden and a tucked-away courtyard.

Dany’s Wine Bar

A cozy newcomer just a block from the river promenade, Dany’s Wine Bar offers a laid-back space to explore natural wines from France, Moravia, and beyond. Inside, it’s all soft lighting, wooden shelves, and quiet conversation. The rotating menu leans Mediterranean, with olives, pâté, French cheeses, and a meatloaf sandwich from The Real Meat Society. Come for a glass, stay for a second. This low-key spot feels more like a friend’s living room than a wine bar.

Hokus Pokus Winebar & Tapas

Hokus Pokus, a beloved Ostrava original, made its Prague debut earlier this year, bringing serious natural wine energy to the hip Vršovice neighborhood. The shelves are lined with organic bottles from small vineyards in Moravia, Austria, Slovenia, and beyond. Not sure where to start? The knowledgeable staff will pair your wine selection with handmade pâtés, cheeses, Spanish hams, and fresh sourdough slices. The space blends stone and wood with a low-key, lived-in vibe.

The Winery Holešovice

This sleek Holešovice hangout feels equal parts wine bar, tasting room, and high-design showroom. At its heart is a towering glass fridge packed with pungent French cheeses and charcuterie. Most wines are by the bottle, sourced from small winemakers across Europe. There are many labels here you won’t find anywhere else in Prague. The French sommelier’s precision sets the tone: thoughtful pairings, clean lines, and zero pretense. Pricey, yes. But unforgettable if shared right.
