💰Stay on top of key financial deadlines this week

If you’ve been assessed property tax of up to CZK 5,000, the payment is due by June 2—larger amounts can be split, with the second half due in December. Also, if you're self-employed and filed your tax return at the end of April, make sure to submit your income reports to your health insurance provider and the Social Security Administration by May 31. Haven’t received your property tax payment details? Contact your local tax office now to avoid delays or penalties.

🎭Welcome back the Fringe

Prague Fringe Festival is back—get ready for a week of bold, brilliant, and bizarre! From May 26–31, Malá Strana transforms into an English-friendly theater zone hosting comedy, spoken word, and experimental performances. Headliners like Mark Watson (Taskmaster, Mock the Week) share the stage with rising talents from around the world, including thought-provoking acts from India, radical queer performances, and offbeat improv. Over 130 shows take place in intimate venues across the neighborhood.

🎵Return to Kasárna Karlín

After nearly a year of closure, Prague's Kasárna Karlín reopens its courtyard on May 27, once again welcoming the public into this beloved community space. The venue will operate in a limited outdoor capacity, with quiet hours, new rules, and community support at its core. Swing by daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and be part of this next chapter in Karlín’s cultural life.

🍓Have a berry good week

Strawberry season is here! Fields around the capital are now open for samosběr (self-picking), offering juicy, fresh strawberries at lower prices than stores. It’s a great way to enjoy the countryside, support local farms, and stock up on sweet berries. Prime picking time is late May to mid-June, especially early in the day. Just bring cash, a basket, and sun protection and don’t forget to check each farm’s hours before heading out. Read our full article for tips on where and when to pick.

🍷End the week with a glass

On May 31 and June 1, the public will have a rare chance to explore Prague’s municipal and private vineyards, many of which are usually closed to visitors. The Prague Vineyards event invites guests to taste local wines in their original, often heritage-protected settings. Lysolaje vineyard (Prague 6), Svatojánská vineyard (Prague 1), and Vinice Máchalka (Prague 9) all feature.
